Is there a curve on the NYS Geometry Regents? ›

The reason why is often because the test administrator wants to normalize the score results based on the cohort of students that took the exam. This is the most likely reason the New York State Education Department curves the Geometry Regents exam.

How are the Regents Exams scored? The Regents exams are scored on a scale of 0–100, with 65 considered a passing grade. These scores are “curved” based on the results of all students taking the exam in a particular year, meaning the score does not directly reflect a percentage of questions answered correctly.

Do colleges care about regent scores? ›

They're mainly for your school or state's records and aren't typically considered by colleges. However, performing well on them can positively influence your final grade in that course, which is something colleges definitely pay attention to. So, while your Regent grades have some impact, don't worry too much.

The final score on most Regents examinations is not a simple percentage or number of correct answers. Nor is it the same as the raw score – the total number of points a student achieves on a test.
